Title: Timothy White's Rock Stars "Pete Townshend: The Iron Age" - Show 89 -1 for broadcast week of September 19, 1989

Format: LP

Label/Date: Westwood One/1989

Comments: Music and interview. Contains the unreleased demo, "Penny Drop", which is an unused, "Iron Man" song. Also included is ~1/2 of the rare, "Dig" demo. This is the infamous interview which started the whole, "Pete is gay" controversy. Timothy asked Pete if he was gay while discussing "Rough Boys" and Pete said, "no..." However, when Timothy's book came out a short while thereafter, somehow the "no" became a "yes". Go figure...

Track Listing: I Won't Run Anymore, Dig, A Friend Is A Friend, Sheraton Gibson, Keep Me Turning, Let My Love Open The Door, Rough Boys, Behind Blue Eyes, Hiding Out, Penny Drop, Fire, All Shall Be Well

Artist: The Who

Title: Superstar Concert Series - The Who - "The Kids Are Alright" - Show #92 -17 for broadcast the weekend of April 25-26, 1992

Format: CD

Label/Date: Westwood One/1992

Comments: This is an edit of the 9/3/89 (Labor Day) Cotton Bowl show from Dallas, Texas. Unfortunately, when that show was originally broadcast live, it was intentionally distorted to discourage bootlegging. This version, although edited, has excellent sound quality. The vinyl version of this radio show actually sounds even better. Great performance of "Magic Bus" - one of my favorites.

Artist: Pete Townshend

Title: Superstar Concert Series - Pete Townshend - Show #96 - 23 for broadcast the week of June 3, 1996

Format: CD

Label/Date: Westwood One Entertainment/1996

Comments: This is an edit of the 1996 Pete Townshend Fillmore West concert, which is now available via www.eelpie.com . This same show was also released by Westwood One (WW1) with "The Shout" in place of "Parvardigar". The sound quality on the WW1 discs is slightly better than the unedited, released version because of the unnecessary compression used in the mastering of the "official" version.

Track Listing: Let My Love Open The Door, English Boy, Drowned, Cut My Hair, I'm One, Heart To Hang On To, Parvardigar, A Friend Is A Friend, I Am An Animal, Slit Skirts, Eyesight To The Blind, Now And Then, Rough Boys, Magic Bus

Title: Superstar Concert Series - The Who - "Tommy" - Show #96 - 44 for broadcast the week of October 28, 1996

Format: CD

Label/Date: Westwood One Entertainment/1996

Comments: This is an edit of the 06/27/89 "Tommy" performance at Radio City Music Hall, NYC. The "Tommy" portion of the show is complete, but the encore only has 2 of the tracks (most of the other encore tracks are on another WW1 show). The sound quality is excellent, but not as good as the vinyl version, which seems to have been mastered better.

Track Listing: Overture, It's A Boy, Amazing Journey, Sparks, Eyesight To The Blind, Christmas, Cousin Kevin, The Acid Queen, Pinball Wizard, Do You Think It's Alright?, Fiddle About, There's A Doctor, Go The The Mirror, Smash The Mirror, Tommy Can You Hear Me?, I'm Free, Miracle Cure, Sally Simpson, Sensation, Tommy's Holiday Camp, We're Not Gonna Take It, See Me, Feel Me, I Can't Explain, Substitute

Artist: The Who

Title: Superstar Concert Series - The Who: "Quadrophenia" - Show #96 - 48 for broadcast the week of November 25, 1996

Format: CD

Label/Date: Westwood One Entertainment/1996

Comments: This is an edit of the 07/18/96 "Quadrophenia" live broadcast from Madison Square Garden, NYC. I expected this to be a spectacular sounding version, but unlike most of the other WW1 shows, this one didn't sound all that great. I was unhappy with the mix/mastering and some of the unnecessary editing. "The Rock" is missing and "Quadrophenia" (the song)  is chopped up. Better sounding (and unedited) versions of this concert became available as apparently someone recorded a DAT tape on the soundboard and it was heavily traded.

Track Listing: The Real Me, Quadrophenia, Cut My Hair, The Punk And The Godfather, I'm One, Dirty Jobs, Helpless Dancer, Is It In My Head, I've Had Enough, 5:15, Sea And Sand, Drowned, Dr. Jimmy, Love Reign O'er Me

Artist: Pete Townshend

Title: Superstar Concert Series - Pete Townshend - Show #97 - 40 for broadcast the week of September 29, 1997

Format: CD

Label/Date: Westwood One Entertainment/1997

Comments: This is an edit of the 1996 Pete Townshend Fillmore West concert, which is now available via www.eelpie.com . This same show was also released by Westwood One (WW1) with "Parvardigar" in place of "The Shout". The sound quality on the WW1 discs is slightly better than the unedited, released version because of the unnecessary compression used in the mastering of the "official" version.

Track Listing: Let My Love Open The Door, English Boy, Drowned, Cut My Hair, I'm One, Heart To Hang On To, The Shout, A Friend Is A Friend, I Am An Animal, Slit Skirts, Eyesight To The Blind, Now And Then, Rough Boys, Magic Bus

Artist: The Who/Pete Townshend

Title: BBC Classic Tracks - The Who - Show #98-21 for broadcast the week of May 18, 1998

Format: CD

Label/Date: Westwood One Entertainment/1998

Comments: This CD has the BBC studio versions of "I Can See For Miles", "My Generation" and "Summertime Blues". The sound quality is much better than the official Who BBC CD. The CD also has 2 Pete Townshend live tracks from his 1996 "mini-tour" at the Fillmore West (4/30/96), "A Friend Is A Friend" and "Slit Skirts".

Track Listing: I Can See For Miles, My Generation, Summertime Blues, A Friend Is A Friend, Slit Skirts

Artist: Pete Townshend

Title: King Biscuit Flower Hour - Pete Townshend for broadcast the week of June 15 to June 21

Track Listing: Magic Bus, Won't Get Fooled Again, A Little Is Enough, Stop Hurting People, After The Fire, I Put A Spell On You, I'm One, Pinball Wizard, Give Blood, Face The Face

Title: King Biscuit Flower Hour - The Who (Show #99 -20)

Format: CD

Label/Date: King Biscuit Flower Hour/1999

Comments: This show is an edit of the 12/04/73 "Quadrophenia" concert from Philadelphia, PA. What makes this show a little more unique is that the sound quality is improved over some of the previous released promo versions of the concert and the inclusion of "My Wife".

Track Listing: I Can't Explain, Summertime Blues, My Wife, My Generation, The Real Me, Drowned, Pinball Wizard

Artist: Pete Townshend

Title: Pete Townshend - The Lifehouse Chronicles - Show #00 -15 for broadcast the week of April 3, 2000

Label/Date: Westwood One/2000

Comments: Pete performed two "Lifehouse" shows at Sadler's Wells (UK) in 2000. One was released, unedited on CD via www.eelpie.com , and this is the other show, edited. This show has great sound quality, as well as a very good mix and excellent mastering. Unfortunately, the same can't be said about the official version.

Track Listing: Baba O'Riley, Love Ain't For Keepin', Sister Disco, One Note Prologue, Behind Blue Eyes, Mary, Bargain, Pure And Easy, Let's See Action, Going Mobile, Relay, Who Are You, Join Together, Won't Get Fooled Again, The Song Is Over, Can You Help The One You Really Love?

This show has great sound quality, as well as a very good mix and excellent mastering. Unfortunately, the same can't be said about the official version. Note: This show is a further edit - compare to "The Lifehouse Chronicles" above.
